 The essay:

The enhanced living conditions world-wide gives rise to opportunities for people to travel more. This boosts the development of the tourist industry; however, together with benefits come certain drawbacks which will be analyzed in this essay.

By receiving more tourists, the destination will develop comprehensively. Indeed, the flux of visitors to a tourist spot will create more demand for services in the hospitality industry. This in turn generates demand for supply services and attract more supporting industries such as advertising, fashion, or transportation. These new businesses will create jobs, enhance incomes of the local, and thus raise their living standard. Also, the visitors themselves bring in their unique cultures to enrich the local with knowledge about the outside world. Besides the financial gain from business activities can be reinvested into improving infrastructure and popularizing the image of the tourist attraction to further develop the whole area.

However, there is no doubt that tourism is also imbedded with certain drawbacks. The first demerit of the hospitality industry is the environmental pollution caused by thousands and millions of visitors who flock to the destination and produce waste of all sorts. The second preeminent risk of increasing tourist activities is that it threatens to wear out historical relics with curious touches and countless steps of visitors. Moreover, more development usually means the loss of pristine landscapes to make way for artificial constructions to serve tourists.

In conclusion, although obvious pitfalls of tourism can be spotted, the upward trend of the living standard and socio-economic development are inevitable movements of the world. Therefore, people still enjoy more benefits from the hospitality industry. (267 words)
