Diagram description 5 – The production and transmission of hydro-power

Describe the hydro-electricity production and supply below

The diagram illustrates how hydro-power is produced and transmitted to the end users.

As for the electricity generation, the essential element is water which is evaporated from the sea, condensed in clouds and poured down as rain into reservoirs. At a reservoir, there is a dam to direct the flow of water into water passages controlled by valves. When the valves open, water from the dam rushes down to go through a turbine to produce electricity. After passing the power generation unit, water is pumped back into the reservoir where it starts the cycle again.

As regards the transmission of electricity, from the power generator, electricity is fed to the power grid and travels through high voltage cables. It is then processed at the transformer station to reduce the voltage before entering households, factories, and public facilities like hospitals and schools.

Overall, the diagram summarizes fundamental processes of electricity generation and transmission utilizing gigantic constructions of dams and the power grid (mạng lưới điện) (161 words).
